Thanksgiving Break

Kiley and Ally
I was really looking forward to having an entire week off for Thanksgiving this year.  It was going to be bittersweet... no company and no traveling.  I wanted to meet friends at the park, take Kiley out to McDonald's (one of her favorites) and just enjoy my time with both my girls.  Like usual, things did not go according to plan.  My first Sunday of vacation, Kiley began to cough (A LOT), complain of stomach aches  and spiked a fever.  After 2 days of trying to cure her ourselves, we opted for the doctor.  Kiley had her first "Flu Bug".

While at the doctors office, I mentioned to the doctor that our nights were horrible. Kiley's coughing was keeping us up, and Ally was fussy and  not sleeping either.(With Ally, I assumed it was teething.)    Dr. Julie was quick to remember that Ally is a very happy baby and wanted to check her ears.  Sure enough!!  One ear was infected and the other had cloudy fluid on it.

My week long vacation was very busy keeping up with my needy girls. It has now been a week and Kiley is just now back to normal.   I am thankful though...thankful that we didn't travel, thankful that I WAS on vacation and able to be home with them, and mostly thankful that I am "mom"(even though it is very difficult, challenging and tiring!).

Our family has so much to be thankful for, I am not even going to try to put it in words.

Our Latest Photos

What a beautiful time for photos!  It just so happens to be
Ally's 6 month portrait time.  I had no idea how challenging it could be trying to get 2  children to look at the camera at the same time and try to smile.  The day was cold, the girls had snot noses, but all in all, I think they did great!    Also, can you tell that Kiley is starting to enjoy being photographed?   The photographer was trying to get her to pose, and all she did was flap her arms like chicken wings (like she does when she cheers for the falcons).  It's her and daddy's "dirty birds" dance.  Makes me giggle a little.  Enjoy!

The Fanning Girls went Bananas!

Happy Halloween everyone. This year, we asked Kiley what she wanted to be for Halloween. After glancing through the Pottery Barn Magazine and Wishcraft by Chasing Fireflies, she decided to be a Skunk! (Really, a skunk? I was thinking something cute and girly.) Anyway, a skunk is what it was going to be and Kiley decided that Ally had to one too! However, while traveling in Illinois, we actually smelled a skunk and Kiley was quick to change her mind! For a while, we weren't sure what they were going to be.  I tried to give her ideas, but it wasn't until after watching our favorite Ya Gabba Gabba: Halloween episode that she made her choice.  Bananas! We tried to convince her to be a monkey and Ally a banana, but that wasn't going to happen. Anyways,  thank you, Yo Gabba Gabba, for making us bananas for Halloween this year!  The bananas turned out cuter than I imagined!
